We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble installing one of our plugins on your Mac. This usually happens due to macOS security settings, and can be resolved in just a few steps.
Please try the following:
Step-by-step solution
-
Go to System Settings
Navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security > General. -
Look for a security alert
Launch your DAW (e.g. Ableton Live), which should trigger macOS to flag the plugin. You might see a message like:
“Plugin from an unidentified developer was blocked.” -
Click ‘Allow Anyway’
If you see the plugin listed under blocked software, click "Allow Anyway".
You may need to unlock the settings by clicking the padlock in the bottom-left corner of the window.
If it still doesn’t work
If the above doesn’t resolve the issue:
-
Manually locate the plugin file
-
For VST3:
Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/ -
For AU:
Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ -
For AAX:
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/
-
-
Force-open the plugin
-
Hold Option and double-click the plugin file.
-
macOS may prompt you with a warning—choose "Open".
-
This tells macOS that you trust the file, and it should now be accessible from your DAW.
Still stuck?
If none of the above works, or if you need help finding the correct file path, we’re happy to assist.
